Routine Message: Possible Sonic Booms in Ankara (U.S. Embassy Ankara, May 8, 2026)

Location: Ankara, Türkiye, May 8, 2026

Event: Turkish authorities announced that planned and controlled flight operations will be carried out in the Ankara vicinity between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026.

A statement from the Ankara Governorship advised that during the aforementioned flight operations, aircraft would be flying at supersonic speeds (above the speed of sound). Consequently, loud noises could be generated from the flight activity.
