Event:  The U.S. Consulate is aware of demonstrations in conjunction with recent developments in the Middle East that may occur in North Sydney on or around May 7, 2026. Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate quickly.
 
Local authorities may increase security measures, including road closures, traffic restrictions, or increased police presence in areas where demonstrations occur.
 
Actions to Take
  • Avoid the area opposite the Consulate in North Sydney.
  • Avoid demonstrations and crowds.
  • Check local media for breaking news. Be prepared to adjust your plans.
  • Remain alert to your surroundings and possible threats.
  • Keep travel documents up to date and easily accessible.
  • Keep a low profile.
  • Notify friends and family of your safety.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
